Where are coconut seeds?
Because of the hard shell and the name, it is tempting to think of the coconut as a nut. However, technically there is a special type of fruit called a drupe that contains the seed in a hard rock or a shell which in turn is contained in a fleshy (or in the case of coconut, fibrous, outer layer).
Is the coconut the seed of the tree? The coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) is a member of the palm tree family (Arecaceae) and the only living species of the genus Cocos.
