Kung Fu, or Wu Shu as it is properly called in Chinese, is one of the most popular sports in China. And yet, the golden age of martial arts and Shaolin is gone. Ten years ago, there were around 100 schools with around 100,000 students enrolled. Today, that number has halved.

Can kung fu beat MMA?
A Shaolin monk will not be able to beat an MMA fighter in unarmed combat, especially anywhere near the same weight class. There are several reasons why an elite modern MMA fighter would absolutely beat any of the historical monks. There is a huge gap between Shaolin Kung-Fu and MMA.
